Whether it is a tablet, a liquid or drops, giving medicine the right way makes treatment work and keeps your pet safe.

Before and after every dose

  1. Read the labelCheck the medicine name, the dose, how often and for how many days. Ask us if anything is unclear.

  3. Follow the food instructionsSome medicines are given with food and some on an empty stomach. Ask if you are not sure.
  4. Finish the courseComplete the whole course, even if your pet looks better, unless your veterinarian tells you to stop.
  5. Watch and reportCall us if your pet vomits, becomes very sleepy, or develops a rash or swelling.

Making it easier

  • Hide a tablet in a small piece of soft food only if your veterinarian says that is allowed
  • Praise and reward your pet after each dose
  • Ask us about a different form, such as a liquid, if tablets are difficult
